A passion for writing and storytelling

“I’d always dreamed of being a writer – one who can sit in a dusty old library or an off-the-beat coffee shop while writing.  The thread woven between the pages of my life is my love for the written word.  Stories and characters have long played out in my head, waiting for the day they could bust out and create a life of their own.”

After a successful career as a photojournalist, I decided a professional change was necessary.  I returned to school and got my master’s in human services, specializing in counseling.  During my time working in mental health clinics, the idea for my first novel, The Headshrinker’s Brigade, took root.  It wasn’t until years in private practice and fully embracing the new writer challenges that The Headshrinker’s Brigade was published by Treaty Oak Publishers in 2018.

Getting from concept to finally getting words, drafts, and final chapters on paper took years.  Not only was I embarking on making a dream come true, but I was considering a third career!  So many people helped along the way, and I look forward to sharing tips and tricks in my own blog to help aspiring writers.

I’m a native Texan and currently live in a small town in the Texas Hill Country with my husband and three terribly spoiled dogs.  I’ve joined paths with a small group of local Indie writers who encourage and challenge me on concepts, character development, and getting the next piece off the ground.

While writing, I continue my practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Dripping Springs, Texas and am involved in the greater Austin community writers’ groups and professional development workshops.
